Despite the focus on historical uses, it's important to note that there has been a resurgence of interest in creating art using methods from the past.
Copper Etchings
Copper etching was a medium used by many artists of the past, including Rembrandt. Today, copper etching has experienced a revival, with many artists and admirers drawn to this unique medium. Because copper is a soft metal, a 2.5-3 on Mohs Hardness Scale, it doesn't require much pressure to leave permanent markings in the material.
Why Copper appears green?
The reason usully copper sculpture appears green, that effect has more to do with copper's oxidative properties than it does with the artist's intent. You see, copper doesn't rust. Instead, it produces a greenish patina called copper oxide. While rust is known to degrade metals, copper's oxidation actual becomes a protective element, keeping it safe from corrosion.

A handicraft, sometimes more precisely expressed as artisanal handicraft or handmade, is any of a wide variety of types of work where useful and decorative objects are made completely by one's hand (hence the term handicraft) or by using only simple, non-tech related tools like hammer, carving implements. It is a traditional main sector of craft making and applies to a wide range of creative and design activities that are related to making things with one's hands and skill, including work with copper, moldable and rigid materials, etc. One of the oldest handicraft is copper plates, bowls, candelabra with carving artworks which has been used in some middle eastern country for over 4,000 years and is still used. In Iranian Azarbijan and Turky, people still make handmade copper plates, bowls, candelabra with dotted ornaments much similar to the 5000 year old plates, bowls, candelabra tradition of Persian. Usually, the term is applied to traditional techniques of creating items (whether for personal use or as products) that are both practical and aesthetic. Handicraft industries are those that produce things with hands to meet the needs of the people in their locality without using machines.
